ABOUT ME

Queer Greek-American Artist

Pronouns: He/They

Nikos Maniates Baysore is an artist/ceramisist born and raised just outside of Los Angeles, in Malibu, CA. In 2016, he graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco with a BFA in Illustration and is currently living back in Los Angeles.

Niko’s favorite mediums to use are watercolor and gauche. He has a preference for traditional media but has been known to dabble with digital or mixed media on occasion. He is inspired by the beauty of nature as well as human sexuality and the balance between masculine and feminine energy. He is also often drawn to themes and motifs of the desert and Mediterranean landscapes that he grew up around.

Through his work, he loves to explore the softness of traditional femininity in congruency with the rough ruggedness of traditional masculinity in an effort to open the mind to seeing that the two can often be one and the same. Growing up queer, he has become hyper-aware of this balance within himself and hopes to expand that awareness outward as an extension through his art.
